ABOUT CANINE MASSAGE

Massage is more than a belly rub (those are great, too, though).

Dogs carry tension just like we do. They get stiff after big hikes, anxious during life changes, and gradually slow down as they age.

Animal massage uses intentional, anatomy-informed techniques to give them actual physical relief: the kind you can see in how they move and settle afterward.

It's a complement to your vet's care, not a replacement for it. Think of it like adding a regular stretching routine to your dog's life — simple, preventative, and genuinely good for them long-term.

Let’s meet your dog where they’re at.

WHO BENEFITS FROM MASSAGE

the everyday dog

Regular sessions keep joints moving freely and help your dog stay comfortable doing the things they love, whether that's a neighborhood walk or their favorite napping spot.

Benefits

HOW MASSAGE HELPS

Circulation & Lymphatic Flow

1

  • Oxygen Boost: Enhanced blood circulation delivers fresh oxygen and vital nutrients directly to muscles, accelerating recovery from daily play or strenuous hikes.

  • Waste Removal: Stimulating the lymphatic system helps flush out metabolic waste and cellular debris, keeping your dog's internal systems running cleanly.

Immune System Support

2

  • Defensive Edge: By promoting healthy lymphatic drainage, massage supports the body’s natural defense mechanisms and helps strengthen immune response.

  • Stress Reduction: Lowering stress hormones like cortisol allows the immune system to function at its highest level, protecting overall vitality.

Skin & Coat Health

3

  • Natural Glow: Gentle manipulation of the skin stimulates the sebaceous glands, distributing natural oils evenly across the body.

  • Healthy Barrier: Better localized blood flow nourishes hair follicles, contributing to a shinier, healthier coat and more resilient skin.

Nervous System & Body Awareness

4

  • Calm & Reset: Massage shifts your dog into a parasympathetic state, lowering heart rates and soothing anxiety or hyper-alert behaviors.

  • Proprioception: Helping your dog reconnect with their body improves balance, spatial awareness, and overall physical confidence.

Howdy, I’m Jill

I'm a student practitioner at the Northwest School of Animal Massage, working toward my certifications in both small and large animal massage.

My own rescue dog, Carmy, has hip arthritis. Learning to use massage to help him move more easily every day is what inspired me to lean into this space. I hope to bring the same level of comfort to your animal companion.
